Liverpool have instantly rejected a £58.6million offer from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz.

The Athletic claim the Colombian winger has told the club he wants to leave, but talkSPORT understands the Reds maintain that he is not for sale this summer.

The club value the 28-year-old at upwards of £85m, but purely for accounting purposes as they have no plans to sell him.

Diaz, who had a career-best season in 2024/25, is entering the final two years of his contract and has long been linked with Barcelona.

His father has talked up a move to Spain, specifically Madrid, but Bayern’s interest and his intent to leave suggests this isn’t about a dream move to LaLiga.

The Colombian moved to Merseyside from Porto in 2022 and had his most productive campaign last time out with 17 goals and five assists in all competitions, plus a Premier League winner’s medal.

Arne Slot brought the best out of Diaz and introduced him to a new position on a handful of occasions as a centre forward.

Keen to not let things slip, Liverpool have since staged a mega summer transfer window spending around £200million on three quality recruits.

Florian Wirtz has arrived from Bayer Leverkusen for a British record £116m and been joined by teammate Jeremie Frimpong.

Milos Kerkez has also been secured from Bournemouth for £40m with Liverpool bolstering their fullback options after the hammer-blow of losing academy product Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.

Diaz is expected to battle for a place in attack with Wirtz and others, while the club continue to try and secure a departure for Napoli-linked Darwin Nunez.

Yet interest in the winger is nothing new, with Barcelona solidly linked with a move in the Spanish media.

It appeared they’d lost interest when they went back for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, but the Spaniard has now signed a mammoth ten-year deal at his boyhood club to leave Barca looking elsewhere.

Executives laid the groundwork for a Wirtz move only to be snubbed, while Williams rebuffed their advances.

The Bavarian’s are now even lighter up front after Jamal Musiala suffered a leg break at the Club World Cup, and rivals Stuttgart are holding firm on striker target Nick Woltemade, demanding over £80m for a player who only has one season’s experience as a Bundesliga starter.

Reports in Germany have also stated that Bayern have an interest in another Liverpool player - Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool may also continue to be active following links to Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.

Crystal Palace centre back Marc Guehi remains of interest, but only if his current side are willing to negotiate a fee below the £45m mark.
