Liverpool looks set to rub even more salt into the wounds of Manchester United this summer as a move for Hugo Ekitike seems to be in the works.
The Reds are ready to make a bid for the Eintracht Frankfurt striker, having made an approach to the German club on Wednesday.
The Reds already know it will take more than the $94 million (£70M) bid by Newcastle to land Ekitike, but that shouldn’t prove to be a problem, given Liverpool already made its intentions to break its own transfer record with Isak.
It seems then that the Reds could be about to launch their latest move for another major signing this summer, and in the process pile more misery on to their biggest rival.
United has also been linked with Ekitike this summer, although with no European football to speak of after a disastrous season, it was always likely to be a long shot for Ruben Amorim’s side.

I’ve always admired them.”
Not for the first time this season though, it seems supporting United isn’t enough for a player to overlook the mess that it is being orchestrated by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazers.
To hear that Ekitike is favoring a move to Liverpool must be a dagger to the heart of United fans, having already been hurt by Milos Kerkez this summer.
Like Ekitike, the left-back has not been shy of admitting how he grew up supporting the Red Devils, and even worshipped one the stars of the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Milos Kerkez previously admitted to being a Manchester United fan before signing for Liverpool
“You don't need to explain to anyone what it means to play football in Manchester United, moreover, my childhood idol, Nemanja Vidic, was also a dominant player there,” Kerkez told Sportal.
Despite United being linked with Kerkez previously though, it was Liverpool that won the race for his signature, and any hint of the Hungarian holding any lingering admiration for the Reds’ rivals seems to have long disappeared.
With Ekitike potentially following now, it’s yet another reminder of the yawning chasm that has emerged between the two clubs over the last couple of years
