Liverpool’s transfer hunt for a new forward has taken another twist, with reports suggesting they are eyeing Brentford striker Yoane Wissa as a backup option if their move for Alexander Isak falls through.

The Reds have already seen a massive bid for Isak rejected by Newcastle United, who are refusing to let their star man leave without a ready-made replacement.

With time ticking in the window, Liverpool are now said to be keeping tabs on Wissa — a player who appears to be on his way out of Brentford regardless of where he ends up.

Wissa, 28, returned to training recently after resolving internal issues at the club, but his desire to move has not changed.
