Liverpool’s transfer hunt for a new forward has taken another twist, with reports suggesting they are eyeing Brentford striker Yoane Wissa as a backup option if their move for Alexander Isak falls through.
The Reds have already seen a massive bid for Isak rejected by Newcastle United, who are refusing to let their star man leave without a ready-made replacement.
With time ticking in the window, Liverpool are now said to be keeping tabs on Wissa — a player who appears to be on his way out of Brentford regardless of where he ends up.
Wissa, 28, returned to training recently after resolving internal issues at the club, but his desire to move has not changed.
The forward netted 19 times in the Premier League last season, making him one of the division’s more reliable finishers.

It’s clear Liverpool’s interest in Wissa is tied to their pursuit of Isak.
If Newcastle continue to dig in, the Reds could see Wissa as a cheaper — though not exactly cheap — alternative.
Wissa’s versatility — being able to play through the middle or out wide — could make him a valuable addition at Anfield.
Of course, there’s also the possibility Liverpool are playing a bit of transfer chess here, applying pressure on Newcastle to rethink their Isak stance.
Either way, this is a classic case of the transfer window turning into a game of “Who blinks first?”
