Liverpool have emerged as a potential candidate to sign Lyon starlet Malick Fofana.

The Reds have already been busy in the transfer market this summer, with two new signings already being completed.

Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi have been signed by Liverpool, with more new additions on the way.



Florian Wirtz could become the next new addition to the Reds squad after a £116million deal was agreed with Bayer Leverkusen last week.

There have also been rumours that Liverpool could strengthen their forward line, and now a fresh update has emerged which follows that trend.

According to French news outlet L'Equipe, Liverpool are showing an interest in signing Fofana at Lyon.

The report claims that the Reds are joined by Manchester United and Chelsea in weighing up a move for the 20-year-old this summer.

Lyon are reported to value Fofana at more than €50million (£42.7million) this summer after the winger enjoyed his breakthrough campaign in Ligue 1 last term.

Chelsea are mentioned as the club showing the strongest interest, but are yet to make an offer for the Belgium international.

Fofana plays on the left wing for Lyon but is also capable of performing on the right or as a centre forward when required.

The winger scored 11 goals and provided six assists for the French club last season.

Liverpool currently have Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo in their squad who perform in the same role as Fofana.

Both Diaz and Gakpo have been linked with moves away from Anfield this summer, with the Reds rejecting an approach from Barcelona for Diaz earlier this month.

Lyon have already sold one of their star players this summer after Rayan Cherki completed a £31million move to Manchester City.

It remains to be seen if Fofana will also leave in the same window amid reported interest from Liverpool.

TEAMtalk have reported that the Reds are plotting a swap deal for the Nigeria international, with two players being mentioned who could head in the opposite direction.

The report claims that Liverpool are considering offering Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa in a deal to try and bring Osimhen to Anfield.

It has been reported that the Reds have already began talks with Napoli over a deal, but will face competition from Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea this summer.
