The Bundesliga title-winning Bayer Leverkusen defender has been a prime target for the Anfield giants for the upcoming summer transfer window.
After several rumours of the Reds monitoring the prospect of signing the Dutch right-back, a recent update from journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed that Frimpong’s release clause is €35m.
The update also mentioned that several other European giants are eyeing a move but Jacobs emphasized that the Reds’ interest is ‘genuine’.
The 25-year-old is a prime target for many clubs due to his pace, creativity and versatility.
This season, the fullback has scored four goals and assisted 12 across all competitions in 47 appearances (stats via Transfermarkt).
Earlier reports from journalist David Ornstein had also suggested that the Dutchman would move to Liverpool as he has reportedly been a Reds fan since childhood and holds the desire to join them.
Additionally, if this move materialises, Frimpong’s former club Celtic could get some financial boost due to a sell-on clause in his Leverkusen contract.
Will Liverpool be able to sign Frimpong still remains a question unanswered, but for now, it looks much positive for the PL champions.
