Liverpool recently sold young defender Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for a package deal of £35 million, £30 million base amount and £5 million in additional fees.

The official announcement is yet to be made.

Even though the Reds are short on defenders right now, this deal is intended for the youngster’s development.

Although this might seem like a bad piece of business but according to German media outlet Kicker, the PL champions have added a buy-back clause on the 22-year-old’s Leverkusen contract.

LFC will be able to activate the buy-back clause ‘worth in excess of €60 million from 2027 onwards’.

The German club was able to secure the deal in first place due to this clause only.

Considering the ample amount of game time the defender will get, the England U21 international will be flourishing in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

By 2027, the LFC academy graduate will grow into a reliable defensive pillar.

The extra fee Liverpool will have to pay Bayer Leverkusen for Jarell Quansah in the future, if they decide to bring him back, can be dubbed as a mere ‘training compensation’.
