Liverpool legend slams TNT Sports for 'one sided commentary' during Reds draw with Everton

Liverpool played out a crazy Merseyside Derby with Everton on Wednesday as the game finished 2-2.

The Reds knew they could move nine points clear with a win, but had to settle for a point after a late James Tarkowski equaliser.

In the end, a point was probably a fair result, with Liverpool not quite at their flowing best.

There were some good moments from the Reds, Alexis Mac Allister’s equaliser was brilliant, while there was another goal for Mohamed Salah, too.

On the whole, though, Liverpool were a little below-par as they failed to get the better of the lowly Blues.

But it wasn’t just the late nature of the equalising goal which disappointed Liverpool fans after the game.

Legendary striker John Aldridge was left fuming with the coverage from TNT Sports.

Liverpool have history with TNT Sports.

Jurgen Klopp feuded several times with the broadcaster over their insistence of putting the Reds in the lunchtime Saturday slot.

And after listening to Ally McCoist, Rio Ferdinand and Darren Fletcher at Goodison Park on Wednesday, fans may have another reason to be annoyed.

In fairness, McCoist did call out referee Michael Oliver for awarding Everton a soft free-kick in the lead up to the opening goal.

But that’s as fair as it got from the former Scotland international.

With Ferdinand and Fletcher seemingly willing Everton on to score, Aldridge took to X to voice his disapproval.

“The most one sided commentary I’ve heard for a long time,” said the former Reds striker.

Aldridge absolutely had a fair point and TNT Sports felt the need to rub things in by getting former Everton captain Phil Jagielka straight onto the pitch to interview Tarkowski at full-time.

Jagielka did not even try to hid his bias in any way at all as he celebrated with the Toffees centre-back.

Of course, with the focus on Goodison Park’s goodbye, it was always going to be Everton centred.

But it all felt a bit much.

It won’t mean anything much to Liverpool, who will be more worried about how they let a lead slip so late on.
