Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish was among those to offer their support after the city was rocked by a crash at the club's parade to celebrate winning the Premier League.

Twenty-seven people were injured when a car ploughed into supporters on Water Street in the city centre on Monday evening.

Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said a 53-year-old white British man had been arrested at the scene and the incident was not been treated as terrorism.

Twenty-seven patients in total were taken to hospital by ambulance, and we believe two of those, including one of the children, have sustained serious injuries."

The incident has left the city reeling and prompted some heartfelt words from former Liverpool player and manager Dalglish, who said: “Shocked, horrified and deeply saddened about what happened at the end of the parade today.
