Liverpool’s summer transfer window of 2025 will go down in the history books as the biggest ever seen at Anfield.
The Reds bolstered almost every part of their squad, from goalkeeper right through to centre-forward.
There was one area of the Liverpool squad which remained untouched by the transfer bug, however: the midfield.
Liverpool put their attention on securing the future of their midfield in 2023, signing four new players who all remain at the club to this day.
But while Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo have all proven successful signings in different ways for the Reds, 2026 will mark three years since their arrivals.
And having built a new team around his midfield since his appointment as head coach, Arne Slot looks set to take the opportunity to add some fresh blood next year.

In Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai – as well as Florian Wirtz – Liverpool have one of the finest groups of midfielders in Europe.
But there is arguably still room for another player at Anfield, one who can perhaps offer a guarantee of quality when any of the first choice trio are not available.

And according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, it would not be a surprise to see Liverpool become active in the race to sign either Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, or Carlos Baleba of Brighton.
“In my opinion Liverpool are going to want another CDM next year, a top class one,” Bailey exclusively tells Rousing The Kop.
“Angelo Stiller would do that role, but I do personally wonder whether Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton would be higher up in the pecking order, obviously they would come with significantly higher price-tags.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if we see Liverpool getting involved in those conversations a bit more.”
Liverpool supporters are having some trouble when deciding who should be in their starting midfield this season.
Gravenberch has been brilliant once again, while Szoboszlai has been labelled as a ‘revelation‘ so far.
Then there’s Mac Allister, who is arguably the most consistent performer of the past two-and-a-bit years.
According to Bailey, though the Argentine could be the one who ends up losing out if a big-money arrival comes through the door.
The journalist also confirms that plans to reward Gravenberch with a new contract are being put in place.
“I’m told a new contract for Ryan Gravenberch is very much on the agenda,” he says.
“Szoboszlai would be on more than the other two [Gravenberch and Mac Allister], so he’s probably less pressing.
But I think the CDM issue is a fascinating one for Liverpool.
“Mac Allister didn’t want to play there, because that’s not his role.
