Liverpool are looking to land the signing of Salford City teenager Will Wright, who has been hugely impressive after enjoying a swift rise at Moor Lane.

The League Two outfit look to have unearthed a gem after seeing him excel with the club's youth ranks, which eventually saw him making four appearances for the first-term last season, one coming in the FA Cup loss at Manchester City.

Salford are now co-owned by Gary Neville and David Beckham but the duo are set to lose their young star.

Wright's potential departure will land Salford a six-figure sum, reports TalkSport, with a number of Premier League clubs also keeping tabs on the 17-year-old.

Arsenal, Brentford, Leicester City and Burnley have monitored the player.

Wright is now going into the second year of his scholarship with Salford after being spotted playing for local sides Euxton Villa and Fylde only two years ago, but he could be about to jump up the football league pyramid to join one of England's giants

He won't go straight into the first-team at Anfield given their wealth of attacking talent, but the Reds would still be able to land a player who could go on to be a future success story.

Salford have been stuck in the fourth tier since their promotion from the National League in 2019.

Despite the fortunes invested by the Class of 92 they have only made the play-offs once with a number of managers coming and going during that period.

The Ammies have previously seen some of their leading lights move on to bigger and better things.

Vaclav Hladky left for Ipswich and is now on Burnley's books.

As Wright continues to feature in pre-season for Salford he said: "For all of us it is a fantastic opportunity, not even playing games, but just to be training with them.

Gaining the experience and taking things back to the academy and hopefully bring more people through."

Liverpool meanwhile could take their summer spending beyond the £300million mark as they weigh up breaking the British-transfer record to land Alexander Isak from Newcastle.
