Alexis Mac Allister returns to the starting line-up as four players make their Premier League debut for Liverpool against Bournemouth.

Mac Allister was a second-half substitute in Sunday's Community Shield penalty-shootout defeat to Crystal Palace having had a truncated pre-season schedule due to an injury at the back end of last season.

However, the Argentina international returns to the team as the champions kick off the defence of their crown against the Cherries at Anfield.

Ben Doak is not in the match-day squad as the two clubs continue to discuss the finer points of a £25m switch.

Florian Wirtz starts as the most advanced midfielder with Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai behind the Germany international, who is making his competitive debut following his £116m move from Bayer Leverkusen in June.

Hugo Ekitike, the £79m signing from Eintracht Frankfurt, leads the line, with Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah either side of the France Under-21 international.

At the back, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez start at right and left-back, respectively, with captain Virgil van Dijk named alongside Ibrahima Konate.

Alisson Becker begins in goal with new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili in reserve.

Joe Gomez returns to the match-day squad having suffered an Achilles issue on the pre-season tour of Hong Kong.

He is on the bench following his comeback to training this week.

New signing Giovanni Leoni, whose £26m move from Parma was confirmed on Friday evening, is at Anfield to watch his new colleagues in action.

Before the game a minute's silence is planned for Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, who both died in a car crash in northern Spain in early July.

A mosaic on the Kop has also been lined up to honour their No.20.

Liverpool: Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike.
