Liverpool loanee Owen Beck has capped off a remarkable season at Dundee United by earning a spot in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.
Despite being the sole representative from Dundee in a lineup dominated by players from Rangers and Celtic, Beck’s outstanding contributions have earned him recognition from his peers.
The Professional Footballers’ Association unveiled the Team of the Year as voted for by the players across the Premiership, Championship, and Leagues One and Two.
Despite being sidelined with a groin injury since early March, the Wales U-21 international secured a place in the defensive lineup alongside Rangers’ James Tavernier, as well as Celtic’s Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales.
Announcing the team on social media, PFA Scotland said: “Liverpool loanee Beck has been a bright spark in an impressive Dees side this term, making an impact at both ends of the park.”
Beck’s impact at Dundee this season has been significant, with the 21-year-old featuring in 28 matches, finding the net twice, and playing a crucial role in the club’s achievement of a top-six finish.
Additionally, he returned to Liverpool in January, where he made his Premier League debut against Bournemouth.
Manager Tony Docherty remains optimistic about Beck’s potential return to action before the season draws to a close in just under a month’s time, highlighting the youngster’s importance to the team.
“We’ll hopefully see him before the end of the season,” Docherty said.
“He is making progress.
“Owen played 28 games in a row at that level and that’s something he’d never done before.
“We’re keeping in regular contact with Liverpool and it would be great to get him back for some stage of the season.
“But, at the moment, we’re still waiting on word on that.”
The full PFA Scotland Premiership XI: Jack Butland, James Tavernier, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Owen Beck, Matt O’Riley, John Lundstram, Callum McGregor, Bojan Miovski, Lawrence Shankland and Theo Bair.
