Liverpool’s attempts to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak have taken another twist that may force Arne Slot to rethink his transfer plans.
Isak is exploring a move away from Newcastle and has not participated in any of the Toon’s pre-season friendlies.
Newcastle value Isak at up to £150million and have rejected a bid from Liverpool in the region of £110m.
Liverpool have already signed striker Hugo Ekitike and forward Florian Wirtz from the Bundesliga, but even with the firepower at his disposal, Slot wants to continue bolster his front line.

According to The Standard [August 10th] Newcastle have claimed Isak is not up for sale this summer, prompting Liverpool to back away from trying to sign the 25-year-old.
Liverpool could now move for Newcastle target Yoane Wissa, with the Brentford forward wanting a move away from the West London club.
Newcastle have already had a bid rejected for Wissa, and now could face competition from Liverpool amid their firm Isak stance.
The Toon are in the market for a striker having allowed Callum Wilson to depart at the expiry of his contract, but have so far failed in their attempts to bring a number nine to St James’ Park.
