Liverpool are growing in confidence that they could seal a sensational late deal for Marc Guehi.

The Reds have chased the England man all summer as a replacement for Jarrell Quansah, who completed a £35m move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Guehi is out of contract next summer, leaving Crystal Palace in a vulnerable position.

Eagles chairman Steve Parish is aiming to receive around £40m should they choose to sell, albeit Liverpool want to negotiate that price down.

As it stands, Liverpool are the only club seriously pursuing Guehi ahead of Monday’s deadline but Manchester City could enter the picture should the defender be available to leave next summer.

Palace turned down £70m for Guehi last summer from Newcastle but Parish has recently admitted that his side could be forced to cash-in as opposed to getting nothing.

"We then had another bid [for Guehi] in January but that was a different situation.

Meanwhile, Liverpool don’t just have the defender in their sights.
