Liverpool are set to kick off their Premier League title defence tonight with a home match against AFC Bournemouth at 8pm.

Arne Slot's side could see some new faces making their competitive debut for the Reds, despite the transfer window still being open.

Liverpool's final Isak stance

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool will only re-engage with Newcastle United over a potential deal for Alexander Isak if they believe that a deal can be done.

The Reds had an earlier bid of around £110 million rejected by the Magpies this summer, and have no plans to return with another offer unless Newcastle's stance changes.

Jacobs, speaking on the Born N' Red podcast, stated: "Liverpool if they're back (in talks with Newcastle) are only coming to collect Alexander Isak, they're not coming to be speculative, they're not coming for a back and forth.

"Liverpool are only going to come back to the table if they know that this (Isak) is happening.

"If there is a development club-to-club, I think Liverpool fans can get very excited, very quickly."

Midfielder deal done

Liverpool's young midfielder Luca Stephenson has penned a new deal with the Reds before heading back to Dundee United on loan, it has been confirmed.
