Liverpool have told Newcastle they would be open to signing Alexander Isak IF the Magpies changed their mind about selling their star striker.

talkSPORT understands that while no formal bid has been placed, Liverpool have indicated they would be prepared to make a British record £120m offer for Isak if offered any encouragement.
Newcastle are believed to value Isak at £150m.

The two clubs have a good working relationship as Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is a close friend of Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.

Newcastle have no plans to sell Isak this summer and are hoping to persuade the Swedish sensation to sign a new deal.

Liverpool are also considering a move for Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekiteke, who Newcastle are trying to bring to the north east.
