Liverpool are going strong to sign Hugo Ekitike, as the club is reportedly pushing towards the deal.

Arne Slot has shortlisted two major names to replace Nunez — Newcastle forward Alexander Isak and Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.

Isak was reportedly the favourite option for the Reds, but the deal now looks complicated.

Newcastle do not want to let him go this season, and reports say his valuation could be close to £120m.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool submitted an official bid on Thursday to German side Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike.

The French forward has already said yes to Liverpool on personal terms.

However, Frankfurt have reportedly rejected the initial proposal and wants more.

Chelsea and Newcastle previously targeted the French striker, but both deals appear to be off — Chelsea backed out last month.

The Merseyside club may now have to spend nearly £100m for Ekitike, as per various reports.
