Bayern Munich have had their attempts to sign Luis Diaz rebuffed by Liverpool, talkSPORT understands.

Boss Vincent Kompany has identified the 28-year-old as a top summer target in his quest to bolster his attack.

The Bundesliga giants are on the lookout for a replacement for Mathys Tel, whose loan stay at Tottenham Hotspur has been turned into a permanent switch.

And they have also seen Leroy Sane join Turkish giants Galatasaray on a free transfer.

But they have been told they have no chance of landing Colombia international Diaz, who remains a vital player for Liverpool.

Bayern chief Max Eberl has been made aware by the Reds that they have no intention or desire to enter discussions to sell Diaz.

It resulted in communication between the two teams ending immediately, with Bayern now forced to look elsewhere.

talkSPORT host, and Rangers legend, Ally McCoist said: "If they keep Luis Diaz what a statement that makes.

"If Liverpool go out and buy a proper centre-forward, they will be pretty much unstoppable."
