Diaz is set to be joined in the Liverpool attack by Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, once a deal is agreed with the German club.
And former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes the club are right to be spending big on Wirtz as the Reds should “fix the roof while the sun is shining”.

They’ve already confirmed the signing of versatile right-back Jeremie Frimpong in a £29m deal from Bayer Leverkusen and are also closing in on Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, who could cost them up to £40m.
Gerrard is excited and is confident that Liverpool will be the team to catch next season as they look to defend the title.

The Reds legend told TNT Sport: “Well, I think you've got to fix the roof while the sun is shining.
So it looks like Liverpool are going to be the team to catch and I've got every confidence that they are going to get stronger next year.”

On Wirtz, he added: He is a big talent, he's done fantastic for Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen.
There's talk that there's going to be a really big signing, he's a big talent [with a] huge future in front of him, so Liverpool is the place for him, let's hope we can make it happen."
