Liverpool are preparing to defend their Premier League title and will want to be as unpredictable as they can be.

The Reds will get their title defence underway in just under a month’s time as they raise the curtain on the new season with a Friday night game against Bournemouth.

First, however, they are in the middle of their pre-season tour of Asia, with their last game coming against Yokohama F.

Marinos on Wednesday.

Liverpool will use this match as one of their last chances to experiment with the team and try different things that they have been practising in training.

With that being said, the squad were seen attempting something a little different in one of their sessions which could suggest they will try to utilise it next season, and it might just be a secret weapon.

The Reds will want to switch things up for the upcoming campaign as they want to avoid teams sussing them out early and make themselves less predictable.

This is Arne Slot’s best chance at trying things out as the consequences are, well, there are not any, hence why they will take a few more risks than usual.

One thing they could do in their game against Yokohama Marinos is to test their strengths at long throws, with journalist Lewis Steele revealing that the squad have been practising it during their training sessions.

Wataru Endo was one of the players practising these, although Steele confirmed on his YouTube channel that Ryan Gravenberch, Milos Kerkez and Conor Bradley were as well.

Endo was said to be the best at them, however, but the fact they were all giving it a go suggests that Liverpool might be channelling their inner Rory Delap next season to help them score even more goals.

In the past, Liverpool have been heavily reliant on Mohamed Salah for goals and, although that will still likely be the same next season, they are at least showing an attempt to diversify their strategy.

Creativity-wise, Florian Wirtz will be the key next season, with the Reds hoping that Salah will be able to focus mainly on scoring, although he will, of course, still provide when needed.

As well as this, the combination of Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, with Alexander Isak potentially being added to this list soon, Liverpool will be hoping that their increased danger in the forward line will force opponents to mark all of them, rather than double up on the Egyptian King.

If they do still try and mark Salah out the game, they now have two, maybe three, top quality additions to score or create when required, suggesting that teams cannot afford to let them roam relatively freely anymore.
