Liverpool have made some huge signings so far this summer but the biggest may still be yet to come.
The Reds are preparing to face one of their toughest seasons to date as they have to defend their Premier League title.
Although they have signed a handful of high quality players, they are not finished yet and still have areas of weakness that they want to improve.
One of these is at striker, with the Reds failing to find a player who can make that position their own ever since Roberto Firmino departed in 2023.
However, they are hoping that Hugo Ekitike will be the man to revolutionise the number nine position and be their very own ‘Bobby’, with all the signs suggesting that he will be as close to the Brazilian as they could possibly get.

Bobby was very different to the typical striker that most teams had, with the Brazilian more of a centre-forward that liked to drop deep.
Many would say he was more of a number ‘nine-and-a-half’ as he was both a playmaker and goalscorer, something Ekitike appears to be able to do as well.

The Frenchman’s statistics show how he is, first of all, a more than capable finisher, but he also is selfless and is very clearly a team player.
Bundesliga commentator Kevin Hatchard, who has watched the 23-year-old progress over the last two years, believes he is one of a kind as he is a facilitator for others, while maintaining a high goal threat himself.
He thinks that it is his creative ability that has made him stand out compared to any other options, with Firmino also a player who was different to others in this regard.
Former Eintracht Frankfurt Jan Aage Fjortoft also stated that his intelligence and movement are two more traits that make him special, again showing similarities to Liverpool’s former Brazilian forward.
Arne Slot certainly likes players who are not too one-dimensional and can add value all over the pitch, and Ekitike seems to be the perfect player to bring just that.
There are so many positives that people are running out of things to say about the 23-year-old, but one thing that is worth noting is that he is not fully developed just yet.
Although he stands a good chance of coming in and hitting the ground running, it would not be a surprise to see him take some time to adjust, with his finishing the final part of his game that needs improving.
Sometimes he can be a little rash in front of goal or not as clinical as he should be, similar to a certain extent to Darwin Nunez.
However, comparisons with the Uruguayan are a little unfair as in his first season at Frankfurt, he over performed his expected goals (xG), suggesting that he is an even-level finisher and still has time on his side to improve.
The quality of chances that he will also get from the likes of Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah should also mean that he should find scoring even easier at Anfield than he did in Germany, making him a very frightening prospect indeed.
