Liverpool are going bold this summer and might still yet sign a player who can revolutionise the team.

The Reds are not messing about in the transfer window and are happy to throw their weight around to assert their dominance.

They have already done this by signing Florian Wirtz for £116m and they look set to do it again by signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Liverpool gave Newcastle an ultimatum by saying they will either sign Alexander Isak if they are willing to sell or buy Ekitike instead, who was the Magpies’ top target.

By submitting a bid for the Frenchman, it appears the Swede is considered untouchable, hence why a move for the 23-year-old is now in the works.

However, although this is a huge transfer, it may have a knock-on effect and mean Liverpool move a step closer to completing another mega deal in the process.

As well as a move for a striker dominating the headlines, Luis Diaz’s situation has too, with the Colombian looking like he will depart Anfield this summer.

Bayern Munich have had a bid rejected by Liverpool for Diaz, although they are expected to come back with another one soon, while the Reds have been eyeing up replacements instead.

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has been heavily linked with a move and this story appears to be gaining traction fast, with Liverpool moving one step closer as they now have more funds available.

A deal for Ekitike will likely be completed in the region of £75m-£80m, which is significantly less than the minimum of £120m they would have had to pay for Isak.

This gives Liverpool an extra £40m-£45m to now spend on the Brazilian, something they didn’t even technically need as reports suggested they were willing to pay for him as well as buying the Swede.

Rodrygo is said to be open to a move to Anfield and he would cost around £87m, a price that they can more than afford, especially now, and probably seems fair given his talent.

Although they look to have missed out on signing Isak, every cloud has a silver lining, and it looks like they could be able to sign two players for a similar price to what they were willing to pay for one.

Usually it is Real Madrid poaching players from Liverpool, with many fans probably happy to see it potentially being the other way around this time.
