Liverpool youngster Luca Stephenson may be on the move again this summer following an impressive loan spell at Dundee United.
The 21-year-old midfielder spent the 2024/25 season in Scotland and made a significant impact, tallying 34 appearances and earning the club’s Young Player of the Season award.
His performances helped Dundee United secure a fourth place finish and a place in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
In a recent interview with the Courier, Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin confirmed his desire to bring Stephenson back:
“I’d love to bring Luca back, but he’s under contract at Liverpool, so we’ll just need to wait and see what happens with that.”
Goodwin noted his strong relationship with Liverpool’s former loan pathways director Matt Newberry, now director of global football, which could help facilitate another deal.

The Scottish club is not only hoping to re-sign Stephenson but is also scouting additional talent from Liverpool’s academy for potential summer loans.
Stephenson has just one year remaining on his Liverpool contract and is expected to hold talks with the club in the coming weeks to determine his next steps.
“There will have to be some conversation about whether it’s staying at Liverpool for a new deal or whether it’s going elsewhere,” he told DUTV.
Despite his season ending early due to injury, the midfielder reflected positively on his time at Dundee United, saying:
“The year I’ve had here, if I can replicate that again, I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t want to play my football back up here.”
With both club and player seemingly open to a reunion, a permanent move to Tannadice Park could be on the cards this summer.
