Liverpool Football Club
When a key player signs a new deal, it always sends a strong message.
It shows belief in the team’s direction.
It shows trust in the manager, the squad, and the ambitions of the club.
That’s especially important in the Women’s Super League, where the level keeps rising and every team is trying to build something lasting.
Liverpool FC Women have been on that path since returning to the top flight.
They’ve rebuilt step by step.
A lot of that progress depends on consistency in the squad, players who understand what the club is trying to do and want to be a part of it.
When one of those players chooses to stay, it’s more than just a contract.
It’s a sign of where things are heading.
Now, Liverpool have locked in one of those players.
Midfielder Ceri Holland has officially signed a new contract with Liverpool FC Women.
The No.18 completed the paperwork at the AXA Melwood Training Centre on Tuesday, committing her future to the Reds.
Holland joined Liverpool back in January 2021 and has since become a mainstay in the team.
She’s made 107 appearances in all competitions and was key in helping the team win the FA Women’s Championship in 2021-22, securing promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Since then, Holland has helped re-establish the club in the top flight and even won the Players’ Player of the Year award in 2022-23.
She played 25 matches last season and continues to be a regular for the Wales national team, with whom she’ll compete at this summer’s Women’s European Championship.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Holland said:
“It’s been an amazing four years?
I’ve really, really enjoyed my time here.”
”We’ve obviously had a lot of success but also I think there’s a lot more that we can give and a lot more to build on.”
She added that staying at Liverpool was about what lies ahead: “I think that was a major part of me re-signing.”
”I can see there’s potential here for us to grow as a group.”
”I think we’ve got a really good set of girls and our squad has got a lot of talent.”
”I’m excited and looking forward to the future.”
She also spoke about how she felt getting the deal done: “I’m really excited.”
”It was something that’s been going on in the background for a little bit now and [I’m] just happy to have it done.”
”I’m excited to move forward with this team and see where we can go.”
Liverpool have retained a key player.
And in a competitive WSL, that makes all the difference.
