Liverpool FC News
Liverpool news and transfers live as the Reds could reportedly hijack a deal for Jarrad Branthwaite, Federico Chiesa is handed an injury blow, and we build up to the Champions League clash with Bologna.
Liverpool is back in Champions League action this evening as it takes on Bologna at Anfield.
It's Arne Slot's first taste of a European night at the Reds' iconic ground, and he'll be looking to make the most of it with another win to make it two out of two in the revamped competition.
Liverpool kicked things off on the first matchday with a comfortable win at the San Siro against AC Milan, and will be aiming for a similar performance against their Italian counterparts - although they may have to do it without two of their stars in attack.

Liverpool U19s victorious
After a goalless draw in Milan to open its UEFA Youth League campaign, Liverpool U19s picked up its first victory in Europe since March 2023 against Bologna U19s in Kirkby, boosting its chance of securing a passage through to the knockout phase.
Rio Ngumoha has been the name on plenty of people's lips since he arrived from Chelsea in the summer, but it was Ranel Young and Amara Nallo who got on the scoresheet to earn a 2-1 win.

Liverpool U19s level at half-time in the UEFA Youth League
There’s not been loads of chances in the first half here in Kirkby.
Ngumoha has hit the bar from distance and smashed one over the top from a similar position but there’s been little in the way of anything clear-cut aside from the Kone Doherty chance.
Bologna has got into a couple of decent positions but hasn’t yet made the right decision with counter-attacks.

Trey Nyoni hint dropped?
Liverpool looks as though it may have dropped a big hint on Arne Slot's squad to face Bologna tonight, which could include Trey Nyoni.
The 17-year-old has earned plenty of admirers after his perfomances in pre-season, and he could well be set to be named in tonight's Champions League squad.

Juanlu Sanchez stance
Reports in Spain suggest Liverpool could get its hands on Juanlu Sanchez at a reduced price.
The Sevilla defender has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent days as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
According to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, Sanchez has a $28m (£21m/€25m) release clause in his contract that lasts until 2026, although Sevilla could entertain an offer of around $22m (£17m/€20m).

Liverpool will 'break the bank' for Salah
Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider he expects Liverpool to make a lucrative offer to Mohamed Salah in order to keep him at Anfield.
Salah's contract expires at the end of the season, and the 32-year-old will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January.

Predicted team vs Bologna
Arne Slot could have a few decisions to make with his side in the Champions League this evening against Bologna.
We already know Federico Chiesa will miss out through injury, while Diogo Jota is a doubt after missing the last couple of training sessions, although Slot has said he expects the Portuguese to be available.
Will he risk him, or will he hand Darwin Nunez another start?
What’s more, the Reds are said to be willing to offer the 24-year-old a five-and-half-year deal worth around $5.5m (£4.2m/€5m) a year.

Jarrad Branthwaite hijack
Liverpool could be set to hijack Manchester United's attempts to sign Jarrad Branthwaite, according to the Daily Mail.
It's suggested that United is preparing a fresh bid for the Everton defender next summer, having had a $66m (£50m/€60m) offer turned down in the most recent window, with the Toffees wanting in excess of $93m (£70m/€84m).
Liverpool though is claimed to be a 'firm admirer' of the England international, and could make a move for him in January, with the Reds said to be in a better position to offer Everton what it wants.

Chiesa injury blow
Liverpool will be without Federico Chiesa this evening, with the Italian also looking like a doubt for Saturday's Premier League game against Crystal Palace.
Both Chiesa and Diogo Jota missed training on Tuesday, with Arne Slot confirming in his press conference that the former will miss out through injury.
Jota though is expected to be available, despite missing two training sessions in the build-up to tonight's game.
