Liverpool were beaten by Chelsea on Sunday, with the Premier League title winners losing 3-1 in west London.

The Blues were comfortable victors at Stamford Bridge as Liverpool’s title celebrations, with a Cole Palmer-inspired performance securing a huge three points for Enzo Maresca’s side in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification.

With Liverpool securing the title with four games to spare, eyes are now firmly on the summer transfer window, with the Reds expected to spend big as Arne Slot looks to add quality depth to the squad in what will be a big season for the Anfield side.

And interest in one Chelsea star is now starting to grow after Sunday’s result in the English capital over the weekend.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Liverpool have made contact with Palmer’s agents over a potential move this summer, though Chelsea are unlikely to sell the England international due to his importance to the team.

Jamie Carragher raved about Palmer’s performance against Liverpool on Monday Night Football as the former Manchester City star capped off Chelsea’s win with his first goal in 19 games with a well-taken penalty.

With Liverpool fans jokingly celebrating Palmer’s goal, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder could well consider a move to Anfield if a convincing enough offer is made this summer, especially with Chelsea driven by profit off the pitch rather than results on it.

Yet with Palmer as good and as important as he is for the Blues, it would take quite the bid from Liverpool to prize the superstar talent from Chelsea, a move that could be harder to pull off if the west London side qualify for the Champions League.

Palmer is without question one of the best players in the Premier League, with the England international on course to become one of the modern-day greats in the division if he can return to the level of form that made the attacking midfielder so feared at Chelsea.

And whilst Palmer would be a good fit for Liverpool, there are other problems in the squad that need addressing this summer before moving for a player of the 22-year-old’s profile, namely a centre-back and a left-back.

Indeed, Palmer would be a superstar signing that excites every Liverpool supporter, but being realistic, the Reds have to address other areas in the team first before launching an official move for the Chelsea talisman.
