Liverpool FC have moved to secure the future of one of their most promising young defenders, offering 19-year-old center-back Wellity Lucky a new four-year contrat
The Spanish-born defender’s current deal with the Reds is set to expire this summer, creating urgency at Anfield to tie down the academy graduate amid growing interest from clubs across Europe’s top leagues.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool are “trying to keep” the talented defender while “clubs in Spain and Germany are also in negotiations trying to sign him.”
The timing of Liverpool’s contract offer comes as no surprise given Lucky’s development trajectory over recent seasons.
Born in Zaragoza to Nigerian parents, Lucky joined Liverpool’s academy at the U13 level and has steadily progressed through the youth ranks, signing his first professional contract with the club in April 2023.
