Liverpool Football Club have announced the opening of physical and digital books of condolence in honour of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre.

Football fans around the world received devastating news on Thursday morning confirming the death of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his footballer brother Andre.

The duo died in a car crash in Spain, with reports confirming that Jota was on his way back to the UK when the incident happened.



The striker, it has been gathered, had undergone a pulmonary surgery and was advised by the doctors not to fly.



As such, he was on his way to getting a ferry in Spain when the incident happened.

Amid the shock, there has been several tributes from fans and former teammates.

Liverpool had earlier honoured Jota’s memory by flying the Anfield flag at half mast.

Supporters and fans also flocked to the outside of Anfield to leave wreaths, scarves and replica kits at a makeshift shrine beside the Hillsborough memorial, turning the grass outside the stadium into a tapestry of red and white symbols of respect for the Portuguese and Liverpool striker.

And now Liverpool FC have officially opened a physical and digital book of condolence in honour of Jota and his brother.

According to the club’s statement, supporters and members of the public can sign the physical book, which will be placed in the Anfield Road Stand reception area at Anfield.

The signing of the physical book can be done during the following hours:

Thursday, July 3 – 5pm-9pm, (with a limited number of books available this evening)?

Saturday July 5 – 9am-5pm

Sunday July 6 – 9am-5pm

Meanwhile, the online book of condolence is accessible to fans across the globe, and you can sign by clicking here.

Liverpool also announced that “all club stores, museums and tours have been closed until Monday, July 7, and staff have been offered wellbeing support, should they need it.”
