Bournemouth have reportedly struck a verbal agreement to sign Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert, with the knock-on effect soon to benefit Liverpool.
He is seen as a direct replacement for Milos Kerkez as the Reds press ahead trying to reach their own conclusion to recent transfer talks with the Cherries.
Whereas Liverpool have been able to attack the market and strengthen on the back of an impressive season, the Cherries' great form in 2024/25 has placed certain members of their squad top of rivals' transfer lists.
Kerkez is one of those with the Reds progressing well in talks over the defender.
Sky Sports now say Bournemouth, covering their own interests in this saga, have come to a verbal agreement to sign the positionally like-for-like Truffert, 24, from Ligue 1's Rennes for a £14.3m total package.

Most importantly, it is explained that this deal will not go through until Kerkez's move to Liverpool is ratified.
So in what can be seen as a benefit for the Reds, Bournemouth have manoeuvred themselves into a position where they are ready to accept an offer they deem suitable for their current 21-year-old star.
Throughout the process, Kerkez is said to have been valued at £45m.
Sporting director Richard Hughes has been leading the negotiations to get the best deal possible for Liverpool, making use of a good relationship with both his former club and the player he signed for them from AZ Alkmaar two years ago.

He has been viewed as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson with that situation taking a twist.
The 31-year-old has now emerged as a target for Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool are braced for a bid from the La Liga club and would be put in a position of checking to see if the Scotsman is open to moving to Spain one year before his Anfield contract is up.
"We have discussed it, of course we have.
I never have done that so I am not going to start doing that now," Robertson said on Thursday.
Asked about Kerkez's potential arrival, he replied: "I think at any big club you always have to keep moving, the club always moves forward and I think you've also seen other big clubs like Manchester City have been very active early doors in the window.
"The club have identified certain positions where they want to get new blood in, it looks like players we're linked to are all younger players and they are all exciting players as well.

"So when you play for a big club like Liverpool you expect challenges, you expect competition and I have always faced that, everyone here has faced that in their own positions and I expect nothing less."
