Liverpool gave a glimpse of its pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre, following a heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota.
After the overwhelming show of support during Sunday’s pre-season game against Preston, Arne Slot’s side reopened the doors to their inner sanctum, with players reporting for their first training session.
In the first game against Preston, Arne Slot spoke in the morning on matchday when he said: “It’s very difficult to find the right words because we constantly debate what is appropriate.
And I’ve said to them, maybe the best thing for us to do is handle this situation like Jota would have.”
“What I meant with that is that Jota was always himself – it didn’t matter if he was talking to me, to his teammates, to the staff – he was always himself.
If they want to train, they can train.
If they don’t want to train, they don’t train.
But be yourself – don’t think you have to be different than what your emotions tell you.”

The club has understandably kept a quiet tone in the early days of pre-season after the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
Players also looked emotionally reserved during training, as seen in the clips.
There’s no doubt the squad gave the green light for the cameras to return, with the first glimpse showing the players heading to the gym for their morning session.
Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo, and Giorgi Mamardashvili were the first spotted.
