Liverpool have to wait almost four months if they wish to make any further new additions to their squad.

It was a busy summer window for the Reds, with eight new faces being added to Arne Slot's group.

In total, Liverpool spent more than £400million on their new signings but also saw several members of the squad leave the club - on either permanent or loan deals.

Notable arrivals saw the Reds sign Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike - among others - this summer.

Even though the summer transfer window has been closed for almost two weeks, Liverpool are still being linked with more possible new signings.

It remains to be seen exactly what business, if any, the Reds will plan to make in the New Year, though.

Here, the ECHO takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours or so;

Liverpool are reportedly looking to hand Michael Edwards a new contract after a busy summer transfer window.

Fenway Sports Group (FSR) appointed Edwards as the company's CEO of football, a role which subsequently led to the appointment of Richard Hughes as sporting director and Slot as head coach.

TBR Football have reported that FSG have already opened talks with Edwards about agreeing a new deal to extend his contract with the company.

Edwards has overseen one of the busiest transfer windows in the club's history - with eight signings and more than £400million spent - while he sees his current deal with FSG run until the summer of 2027.

Liverpool reportedly have a deal in place to re-sign one of their former stars in the future - if all goes to plan.

The Athletic have provided details of Jarell Quansah's move to Bayer Leverkusen this summer, which was rubber-stamped after Liverpool agreed a £35million deal.

The report claims that the Reds included a buy-back clause into the deal, and already have a contract lined-up to re-sign Quansah should they wish to do so in the future.
