Liverpool has held initial talks with Marc Guehi as it eyes up a deal for the Crystal Palace captain this summer.
Guehi has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer, although there have been doubts over whether the Reds would make a move for him now or wait until next year.
The England international has just one year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, meaning he would be available for free next summer if no other team made a move for him beforehand, or if he decided against signing a new contract with the Eagles.

According to BBC Sport though, Liverpool is looking at signing Guehi before the current window ends on September 1.
Liverpool is also trying to sign Giovanni Leoni.
The report also claims that the Reds are trying to sign Parma defender Giovanni Leoni.
The 18-year-old is not seen as a potential rival to Guehi, rather an option for the future.
Palace chairman Steve Parish admitted following the Community Shield on Sunday - which saw Guehi come up against Liverpool - that the club could sell its prize asset in order to avoid losing him for nothing next year.
Asked whether Guehi would leave if a suitable proposal was offered, Parish told reporters: "Yes, yes.
Not just because the Reds could be getting a great defender in Guehi who will be ready to step into the fold when needed, but also because they're planning for the future with Leoni.
If they can get both of those in, then that just leaves one piece of the puzzle missing - Alexander Isak.
