Things appear to be going perfectly at Liverpool this summer, but it could be a very different picture in 2027.
The Reds are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League yet again after making it four wins from four, the only side to have collected maximum points.
Winning back-to-back titles is certainly one of the hardest achievements in football, but Liverpool have put themselves in the best possible position to achieve this, both on and off the pitch.
The transfers they have made have set them up for future success, with all the new arrivals being ones that could become mainstays for many years to come.
However, there is one slight worry that could become reality in the very near future that will change the whole mood around the club, with this needing to be addressed as soon as possible.
Owners FSG have two years to prepare, but as seen just this summer, if things are not sorted quickly, then some drastic and damaging changes might occur.

Towards the end of last season it was a very worrying time at Liverpool despite them cruising to the Premier League title due to contract situations overshadowing their on-pitch success at points.
They managed to tie down both Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, but Trent Alexander-Arnold is the one that got away, an event they will hope never happens again.

However, FSG will have to act quickly as in just two years’ time, some very key individuals are out of contract, with the most significant being away from the pitch.

The Liverpool Echo has already reported that FSG are keen to give Edwards a new contract, with Slot and Hughes likely the same due to the success that has followed.
The Telegraph also reported that Liverpool’s next few deals will be “closer to home,” meaning that the onus will be on contract renewal rather than recruiting new players.
Not only could there be a lot of change behind the scenes at Liverpool in two years’ time, but on the pitch there could be a big turnover.
As mentioned, van Dijk and Salah both renewed their deals, but only until 2027, meaning they are very likely to leave then given their age.
They are not the only ones looking likely to depart either.
Alisson Becker, Wataru Endo and Joe Gomez also run out of contract that year, with the club unlikely to offer them a renewal at this moment in time.
The other two who are only contracted until 2027 are Stefan Bajcetic and Curtis Jones, although both will likely be offered a new deal, especially the latter.
All this shows just how much work FSG have to do if they are to keep the club going in the right direction, but as shown this summer, perhaps it is now best to just trust them in the way they go about their business.
