Liverpool fans visiting the taped-off police cordon at the bottom of Water Street told the Daily Express how Monday night's shocking events have still not sunk in.
Peter Fielding, 62, explained how he was at the parade with his grandson.
It is despicable.
"It looked like he was aiming at people.
It’s those who are injured that matter the most."
Julie Hope, 33, told us: "One minute people are having the best time and the next they are running for their lives.
"People who were there and saw it will be scarred for life.
They’ll probably need counselling.
"Families should be able to enjoy occasions like this without fear of this happening."
Flavio Conti had watched the parade from the traffic lights on Water Street.
On Monday morning his flag was still tied to the traffic lights.
Flavio, who travelled over from France, said: "I didn’t know what had happened at first.
Then I saw people crying.
