The man accused of the Liverpool parade crash has pleaded not guilty.

Paul Doyle appeared at the city’s Crown Court on Thursday via video link from HMP Belmarsh over the incident in Water Street on May 26 this year.

The 53-year-old was arrested at the scene after a Ford Galaxy ploughed into a crowd of people shortly after the club’s Premier League title celebrations.

More than 130 people were injured in the collision including eight children with the ages of the victims ranging from six months up to 77 years old.

But Doyle, from West Derby, denied all 31 charges brought against him including causing grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving.

His legal team told the court that they faced significant hurdles in access to visit their client in prison or speaking to him via video link over several weeks.

They also claimed that Belmarsh Prison had not allowed Doyle to be given a laptop in custody to view CCTV footage of the incident and other evidence.

A pre-trial review hearing is set to take place on October 27 ahead of the new trial date of November 25, a day later than originally scheduled by the court.
