There is a large emergency services presence in place on Water Street in Liverpool after an incident which followed the closing stages of Liverpool's Premier League title ceremony.
At the moment, details are scarce, but video footage on social media showed a car colliding with multiple pedestrians following the conclusion of Liverpool's title parade
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.
There is a heavy police presence in the city center, while there are also several ambulances on the scene, as well as at least one fire engine.
As well as road ambulances, it has been confirmed that an air ambulance is on the scene.
A statement from the North West Air Ambulance said that its crews are dealing with an incident in Liverpool city center "following reports of a road traffic collision"
There remains a strong emergency services presence in the aftermath of the incident
Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible."
Liverpool City Council also issued a brief statement, saying that it is liaising with Merseyside Police regarding the incident
The statement, which was published on social media, said: "We are currently liaising with Merseyside Police regarding an incident on Water Street in the city centre."
Sir Kier Starmer, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, issued a statement on social media, writing: "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected.
"I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident
