A man accused of deliberately driving a car into a crowd of people at Liverpool's title parade is facing an additional 24 charges.

Paul Doyle, 53, is the alleged driver of the car that hit several soccer fans during a parade to celebrate Liverpool's Premier League title triumph in May.

Doyle, of West Derby in Liverpool, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday via video-link from prison and broke down in tears while confirming his identity.

The total number of alleged victims in the indictment is now 29, including eight children.

He struggled to speak after being asked if he could hear the proceedings over the video call.

Members of Doyle's family sat in the public gallery at Liverpool Crown Court while the proceedings took place

Members of the victims' families were also in attendance.

Doyle was initially charged with two counts of wounding with intent, two charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, two charges of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm, and one charge of dangerous driving.

The total number of charges brought against Doyle now stands at 31.

Judge Andrew Menary adjourned Doyle's plea hearing until September 4, 2025
