The season finally came to a close for all Liverpool players on Saturday night as the European Under 21 Championship ended in England victory.
Although the curtain came down on the campaign more than one month ago, youngsters Tyler Morton, Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott remained on active duty.
In the end, it was all worthwhile for the Liverpool trio, as they clinched the championship title after beating Germany 3-2.
It was a special night for Elliott in particular.
After the 22-year-old opened the scoring he was named as Player of the Tournament in a ceremony following the final whistle.
But Elliott was not the only Liverpool academy graduate to impress on the night, with Morton providing a quite stunning assist for the game’s winning goal.
Despite becoming something of a forgotten man at Anfield, the midfielder was hailed by media and pundits alike following his cameo appearance.

It has been a difficult season at Liverpool for Morton.
After failing to secure a move in either transfer window, he ended the year with just five appearances to his name.
Nevertheless, Morton has impressed fans at the Euros, and that continued with a star turn in the final.

Although The Express actually claim the 22-year-old was initially ‘sloppy’ on the ball, they concede that his ball in for Jonathan Rowe to head home in the 92nd minute was ‘sensational’.
Meanwhile, GOAL go even further in their praise.
After describing Morton’s match-winning cross as ‘outstanding’ they claim it was also more than a little ‘Alexander-Arnold-esque.’

Finally, former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor is someone who knows Morton well, with the pundit regularly covering Reds academy matches.
And Mellor was another left in awe of what the midfielder produced in the dying minutes of the game.
“Tyler Morton that is an outrageous cross to get the assist!” he posted on X.
While Elliott got the headlines throughout the tournament and Morton stole some with his game-defining moment, Quansah was also a regular for England in Slovakia.
Quansah is set to leave Liverpool, with journalist Fabrizio Romano confirming that the defender will undergo a medical with Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.
And Liverpool were shown what they are going to miss on Saturday, with The Express handing Quansah an eight out of ten and proclaiming him set for ‘a big future in the game.’
GOAL rate the 22-year-old as a seven, claiming he ‘remained solid as ever’ while also providing an attacking threat with the ball at his feet.
So, while Liverpool fans will be happy to have had three top performers for England, the feeling is bittersweet.
Unfortunately, there is a strong possibility that none of Elliott, Morton or Quansah are at the club next season.
