Liverpool may have already spent big but a new number nine is high up on the agenda.
The Reds have always been known for their attacking prowess and, as of late, they have had one of the deadliest attacks in Europe.
Gone are the days of trio Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, although the latter is still tearing the Premier League up, the Reds have not had a consistent front three since they went their separate ways.
The striker position in particular is the area that has not been nailed down since the Brazilian left, and big changes are expected this summer, with current number nine Darwin Nunez set to depart.
His £85m move from Benfica has been nothing short of a disaster and he has failed to live up to expectations, although that does not mean he is short of suitors.
Napoli are just one big club vying for his signature and they are one of the favourites to land him, with Fabrizio Romano revealing the timeline in which he could finally depart.

Liverpool rejected a bid for Nunez in January and he has been rumoured with a move away ever since, even more so now after failing to impress Arne Slot at all towards the back end of the season.
Many Saudi clubs have remained interested, and although the second transfer window hasn’t even opened yet, it feels like a transfer saga that has gone on for quite some time.

However, in Romano’s most recent update on his YouTube channel, he revealed that Nunez’s Liverpool chapter could finally be over very soon.
“My expectation is still for Darwin Nunez to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window,” Romano said.

“There’s been interest from Saudi clubs since January but let me mention Napoli again.
Because they had contact with Nunez again this week and it is their priority and dream target for them
“Next week, new contact will take place between Napoli, Nunez’s camp and Liverpool to understand the conditions of the deal.
Liverpool know they will make a loss on Nunez but they could accept as little as £43m, a much lower amount to what they paid for him but also considerably lower than the £60m that many Saudi clubs looked willing to pay at one point.
When the Uruguayan arrived at Anfield, there was a little trepidation due to his price tag but the overriding feeling was excitement, especially after he played so well against Liverpool for Benfica in the Champions League months prior to his transfer.
However, with his goalscoring numbers being nowhere near what they should have been, it looks like the 25-year-old has run his course and it’s time for both parties to call it quits.

With 66 goal involvements in 143 games, it would not be outrageous to say that he could easily have almost a contribution per game, that is just how many chances he has failed to take.
His positioning is second to none and the runs in behind the defence will prove beneficial to whichever team signs him, but his confidence and composure are the areas that need work.
Napoli and the Serie A might be a good move for him, as he suits the league well, but it is fair to say that Liverpool have given him more than enough of a chance and it is time to cut their losses.
