Most of the Liverpool first team are playing for their countries this weekend after a terrific start to the season.

The Reds have won their first three Premier League matches and are looking good to challenge for the title once again.

That is in stark contrast to Manchester City who, despite a good start against Wolves, have lost their last two matches.

£59m January signing Omar Marmoush has been somewhat disappointing amid that poor start for City, registering no goals and just one assist so far.

Marmoush is clearly desperate for a goal, and having joined up with Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah on international duty for Egypt this week, he finally got one.

However, had it not been for Salah, the 26-year-old would still be searching for his first strike of the campaign.

Playing for two of Europe’s best teams, Salah and Marmoush are clearly the two current stars of the Egyptian national team.

But while the City man is a good prospect and a hope of the newer generation, Salah is obviously a level or two above him right now.

As a result of his status as star man and captain, Salah is the designated penalty taker for Egypt, and he stepped up to bury one late in the first-half against Ethiopia on Friday.

The Pharaohs were awarded a second penalty just minutes later, but instead of taking the spot-kick again, Salah handed the ball to Marmoush.

“Mo Salah let Omar Marmoush take Egypt’s penalty so he could score his first World Cup qualifying goal,” TNT Sports report, sharing a photograph of Salah handing the ball over.

With fans pointing out that Liverpool’s Egyptian King is only seven goals away from breaking the all-time scoring record for his country, this was a brilliant gesture from one of the nicest people in the game.

While Egypt’s win was notable for Salah’s act of generosity, it was also good to see the 33-year-old back on the scoresheet.

Salah has been quiet in the early weeks of the campaign, failing to score in his past two matches for Liverpool.

11 has been his prowess from the penalty spot.

After blazing consecutive penalties over the bar against Athletic Bilbao and Crystal Palace, there have been some calls for Salah to be changed as Liverpool’s penalty taker.

The Reds are yet to be awarded a spot-kick this season so it is impossible to say whether this has happened.

The arrival of Alexander Isak will certainly put Salah under some more pressure.

But as he showed in Cairo on Friday night, he is still capable of finding the net from 12 yards.
