Liverpool face Atalanta in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final with a determination to rejuvenate their season.

The Reds have suffered a string of disappointing results, including a 3-0 loss in the first leg at Anfield last week.

Jurgen Klopp’s side relinquished their grip on the Premier League title race last Sunday after a surprising 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

They have managed to secure victories in only two of their last five Premier League matches.

Their decline in form was glaringly evident in the reverse fixture in Liverpool, where Atalanta dominated, registering the highest expected goals by an away team at Anfield since February 2021.

Gianluca Scamacca, who scored three goals during his brief stint in the Premier League, netted a brace and posed significant challenges to the Liverpool defence.

No team has ever overturned a three-goal deficit away from home in the Europa League.

If Liverpool aim to reach the semi-finals, they’ll need to achieve what’s never been done before.

However, they face the challenge without Thiago Alcantara, Ben Doak, and Joel Matip, who are all ruled out.

On a positive note, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, and Alisson made their comebacks from injury against Crystal Palace and are likely to be in contention for Thursday’s match.

Conor Bradley is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks due to an ankle injury.

The 20-year-old sustained the injury early in the second half against Palace.

Stefan Bajcetic featured for the U21s last Friday but did not make the squad against the Eagles, suggesting a gradual return to first-team action.

Atalanta, on the other hand, have a relatively clean bill of health, with the exception of Giorgio Scalvini, who is sidelined with a biceps injury.

Sead Kolasinac, who made a cameo appearance off the bench against Verona after missing two games with a thigh injury, could potentially feature in the starting lineup against Liverpool.

Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Elliott; Salah, Jota, Diaz
