Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell Darwin Núñez to Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. The clubs have reached an agreement reportedly involving a fixed fee of around £46.2 million (€53 million) plus add-ons that could increase the total to approximately £56.6 million (€65 million). Al Hilal have accepted Núñez’s wage demands, pushing the transfer close to completion. The Uruguayan striker, who joined Liverpool in 2022 for up to $116 million from Benfica, has accepted the proposed move and is expected to undergo a medical soon if personal terms are finalized.
Fabrizio Romano described the deal as “350% done” between the clubs, noting that the remaining step depends on the player’s acceptance. After that, Núñez could travel to Saudi Arabia immediately for medical tests. Despite interest from AC Milan, particularly from Serie A, Al Hilal’s financial offer has secured them the signing, as Milan were unlikely to match the Saudi club financially.
Núñez's stint at Liverpool lasted three seasons, during which he scored 40 goals in 143 appearances. However, his role diminished last season under manager Jürgen Klopp despite Liverpool winning the Premier League. The move to Al Hilal follows a turbulent summer, with Liverpool also adding new signings such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Hugo Ekitike.
Al Hilal prioritize Núñez as a key replacement for Neymar, who left the club six months ago. While a formal announcement is pending, sources express confidence that the transfer will be finalized shortly, marking an end to Núñez’s three-year tenure at Liverpool and continuing the trend of high-profile moves to Saudi Arabia.
