Thoughts never stray too far from Jürgen Klopp's successor though, and reports suggest the Reds could be about to make a move for Xabi Alonso.
Here is a round-up of the latest Liverpool news.
Liverpool 'ready' to make Alonso move
Liverpool is ready to ‘break the bank’ for Xabi Alonso, according to Football Insider.
Alonso is the favorite to take over at both, although recent reports have suggested Bayern may have taken the lead in the race for his signature.

Sky Sports claimed last week that Alonso would move to Munich rather than Liverpool if he chose to leave Leverkusen.
The decision will come down to Alonso though, and Liverpool is said to be interviewing other targets as a backup plan.
Lijnders on Ajax shortlist
Pep Lijnders is on Ajax’s shortlist to become the Dutch club’s head coach next season, according to the ECHO.
The 41-year-old is set to leave Liverpool along with Jürgen Klopp in the summer, with the German’s coaching staff following him out of the exit door.
Lijnders might not be out of a job for long though.
Ajax is said to be eyeing him up, having been without a permanent manager since Maurice Steijn was sacked in October.
John van ‘t Schip has acted as interim boss since then, but Lijnders could be in line for a reunion with former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson in Amsterdam.
