Liverpool remain interested in the wantaway Sweden star despite having an initial £110million bid rejected.

Reports indicate that the Magpies and their hierarchy - led by co-owner Jamie Reuben and representatives of their majority shareholders, Saudi Arabia's Private Investment Fund - met with Isak in the hope to end the saga and make positive steps to reintegrate him into the squad.

However, their efforts to convince the 25-year-old to stay are said to have been in vain as he still seeks an Anfield move.

Newcastle have reportedly had two bids rejected for Strand Larsen, meanwhile, with a latest offer of £55million turned down.

ChronicleLive have reported that the striker has issued a 'come and get me plea' as they look to end the transfer window in strong fashion after a number of failed pursuits for their desired targets this summer.

Wolves, it has been said, are likely to demand £60m for his services and insiders are claimed to have reiterated a move for Strand Larsen is seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson, as their efforts to sign Yoane Wissa hit delays.

Pereira said during a press conference: "I don't know, I'm not the owner.

"Until now, Jorgen is our player, we'll see what happens.

"Football is football and every player has a price, even [Lionel] Messi or Cristiano [Ronaldo].

"We'll see what happens.

"I know him very well and he will never, never force a move.

"There are players I have known in this situation and they just ask me not to play, but Jorgen Strand Larsen wants to play every time.

"Football is football and we must be ready for everything."
