Real Madrid have reportedly taken their first steps in their pursuit of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander Arnold.
The Spanish giants are seriously interested in the English defender, whose current Liverpool contract ends at the end of this season.
Alexander Arnold is currently under contract with Liverpool FC until 2025, following an extension signed in 2021 that elevated him to one of the club’s highest earners, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
Recognizing his pivotal role and the prime years ahead in his career, Liverpool is eager to secure his long-term future at Anfield.
The 26-year-old and Liverpool have maintained discretion regarding these negotiations, with the player expressing a preference for privacy in contract matters.
We exclusively reported that the vice-captain is happy to give the club time to iron out the details of a new deal on Merseyside.
However, this has not stopped Real Madrid, who are keen on signing a right-back in the summer, from approaching him.
According to the latest report, the La Liga club have even made their interest official by speaking to Liverpool.

Per the report, Madrid are looking to sign the England right-back on a pre-contract agreement in January, with his current contract set to expire on the 30th of June.
“The Spanish giants are not obliged to register an interest in Alexander-Arnold as he can sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club in January,” the report states.
“However, sources close to the European champions say they want to be respectful to their Merseyside counterparts.”
