Liverpool have refused to entertain Joe Gomez's exit

Liverpool have no intention of letting Joe Gomez leave on loan as part of any deal that sees them land Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace - insisting their defender is going nowhere.

The transfer window has just days to run and the Reds are still looking to wrap up deals for Guehi and Alexander Isak.

Liverpool have struggled defensively in the opening weeks of the season, furthering the calls for them to bolster their defensive line, and Guehi has been a prime target.

The England centre-half has no intention of signing a new deal at Selhurst Park, which means the Eagles may have no choice but to sell.

They want to receive a hefty fee though with the Reds loathed to spend big on a player who is available for nothing.

Palace, in an effort to ensure they have sufficient cover, have made an attempt to land Gomez on loan if they are to let Guehi move to Anfield.

The BBC reports that Palace would give serious consideration to accepting around £30million if Gomez headed to London on loan.

Liverpool though have no intention of letting their defender leave, even temporarily.

His versatility is seen as an asset and Arne Slot does not want to let him leave, especially as the Reds true to sure up a backline that has conceded four times in two games.

Jamie Carragher has been among those to criticise the Liverpool defence.

It is not possible to find a Marc Guehi replacement who can play straight in the Premier League as a starter."

The club's transfer business could prove crucial in whether or not they choose to sell the England star.
