Liverpool have rejected an approach from Bayern Munich over Luis Diaz and have no plans to sell their No.7 this summer transfer window.

The versatile winger contributed 17 goals across all competitions last term and established himself as a key player in Arne Slot's forward line, filling in as a makeshift centre forward at times while also competing with Cody Gakpo for a spot on the left side.

Barcelona made a tentative approach last month only for Liverpool to instantly dismiss the La Liga side's advances and the Reds maintain that Diaz is not a player they are willing to let leave.

Bayern have been linked with the former Porto star in the last few days but Liverpool have turned down an advance from the Bundesliga champions' sporting director, Max Eberl.

With two years left on his current deal, the Premier League champions are relaxed about Diaz's situation, although the 28-year-old is keen to discuss an improvement on his current terms.

Online suggestions over Diaz's wage packet were robustly dismissed by Anfield insiders last year and it's understood the attacker earns around £140,000 at Anfield.

However, speaking on international duty last month, the los Cafeteros international admitted his representatives were seeing what other proposals might be on the table due to a perceived stagnation over talks about a new contract.

"We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that’s normal given the transfer market that’s opening," Diaz said.

"We’re trying to arrange what’s best for us.

“We’re talking to clubs, it’s normal in the market and we’re looking at what’s best for us.

I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so.

Players like Nico or Luis Diaz have the right mindset.

If we close a winger, no more high-level players will arrive."

Liverpool were baffled by the ongoing speculation around Diaz's future after the Premier League season had ended but eventually fielded a call from Barca over their position on the matter.

Bayern are now the latest to seek information on the matter but have also been the attacker is not for sale.

Diaz has been linked with the Saudi Pro League but with the champions view Al-Hilal's willingness to pay up to £100m for Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, who is two years older than the Colombian, as the ballpark fee should interest from the Middle East firm up.

Liverpool are planning for life with Diaz as part of the squad that will defend the Premier League title and have not been scouring the market for a replacement on the left wing.

The forward, who has spent the last few days with his family in Ibiza, is expected to be part of the contingent that reports for pre-season training next week at the AXA Centre in Kirkby.
