Liverpool have been busy in the summer transfer window, with the Reds' spending looking to exceed £200million as they look to defend their Premier League title next season.

After securing the signing of Jeremie Frimpong earlier this month, Liverpool have now agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz, with the two clubs settling on a whopping £116million transfer fee for the German international.

The Egyptian scored 17 goals and grabbed eight assists while averaging a rating of 7.61 per game - the highest in Slot's side.

Wirtz was the best of the new signings, with the German scoring 13 goals and grabbing 11 assists in 42 games.

Kerkez was just behind him in terms of average rating per game, with the defender making 43 appearances, while Frimpong was also impressive, making 41 appearances and grabbing nine goal contributions across all competitions.

At the end of the 2025/26 season, Football Manager 2024 put together an overall best Liverpool XI, based on performances, statistics, and other metrics.

Full Liverpool best XI: (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Diaz.

All three of the new signings made Liverpool's best XI, with Wirtz starting behind Luis Diaz in the attack while Cody Gakpo was deployed on the left.

Frimpong beat Conor Bradley to the right-back spot, while Alisson remained the Reds' number one, with Mamardashvili only featuring in cup competitions or whenever Alisson was injured.

In the Premier League, Liverpool actually improved on their title-winning campaign as they earned more points than the previous season, but Manchester City improved even more as Pep Guardiola's side lifted the Premier League trophy.

27 wins, four draws and seven defeats saw Slot's side end the season with 85 points, three fewer than City in first and seven more than Arsenal in third.

Liverpool had the best defensive record in the league and the second-best attacking record, but too many defeats in the early parts of the season proved costly in the long run.

But, it wasn't the end of the world though, with Liverpool winning a seventh Champions League trophy and the FA Cup.
