Liverpool are the only Premier League club yet to make a signing this summer, and after Martin Zubimendi rejected the Reds, there's a possibility no new players arrive before the transfer window closes.
The Premier League season begins in just four days time, and after spending pre-season assessing his current squad, it seems that Arne Slot may have left it too late to try and make his first signings of the transfer window.
Spanish midfielder Zubimendi was heavily linked with the Reds, but after some hard thinking, the 25-year-old has opted to stay with Real Sociedad.

Right now, no players – midfielders especially – are lined up for a move to Anfield, and it remains a prospect that Liverpool won't sign anyone in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool's 2024/25 season simulated with no signings
To set up this simulation, we used Football Manager 2024 to simulate the 2024/25 season to see what could happen with zero incoming during the summer transfer window.
Throughout the 2024/25 season, Ryan Gravenberch was used predominantly by Slot as the deepest midfielder in the side, though the Dutchman wasn't fantastic.
This is what it looked like:

Full Liverpool best XI: (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, Diaz.
Gravenberch made Liverpool's best XI from the 2024/25 season simulation, with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai both joining him in midfield.
But, these winless periods proved costly at the end of the season, with Liverpool finishing way outside of the Premier League title race.

19 wins, 10 draws, and nine defeats saw Liverpool finish the season in third place with 67 points, 15 points fewer than last season.
There was no Carabao Cup defence in the simulation as they lost 1-0 to Arsenal in the quarter-finals, and their FA Cup journey ended in the fourth round after a shock 2-1 loss to Leeds United.
Overall, FM24 predict that without any new additions to their squad in the summer transfer window, last season's Premier League title challengers Arsenal and Man City could pull away from the Reds in the league, leaving Slot's side in a battle for a top-four finish instead.
How do you think Liverpool will do without any new signings?
