Liverpool are keen to resolve the Alexander Isak pursuit as quickly as possible as the transfer window enters its final weeks.
The Reds have identified Isak as their primary attacking target to bolster the forward ranks.
Last Friday, Liverpool tabled an opening bid worth a reported £110m, which Newcastle United subsequently rejected.
While several outlets suggested a fresh offer was unlikely, DaveOCKOP.com exclusively reported that the Reds were, in fact, already preparing a second bid with a new structure.
Over the weekend, many changed their tune, and the prevailing belief now is that Liverpool are indeed set to return with another offer -just as DaveOCKOP.com always maintained.
The Reds grew impatient with Newcastle’s lack of urgency to secure a replacement for the Sweden international and put in last week’s bid to get the ball rolling.
Newcastle United put in an offer for Sesko mere hours after Liverpool’s bid for Isak went in.
However, Liverpool does not want a protracted saga for Isak and wants to get the deal done soon to move on to other positions – namely centre-back.
Arne Slot needs at least one more option for depth in the position, with Ibrahima Konate being the only recognised centre-back in the line-up against Athletic Bilbao on Monday.
DaveOCKOP revealed all the way back in March of this year that Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi was a concrete option for the club, and that Liverpool had already spoken to the player’s representatives.
The 24-year-old enjoyed another impressive campaign last season, leading Crystal Palace as captain to their first-ever FA Cup triumph
For Liverpool, signing Guehi would go a long way towards addressing the gap created by Jarell Quansah’s exit, while also raising the overall standard of the squad.
A mainstay in England’s starting lineup during their journey to the Euro 2024 final last summer, Guehi is eager to maintain his spot in the national team as he eyes the 2026 World Cup in the United States.
We also brought the exclusive news to you that Guehi has agreed personal terms with the Reds, although Liverpool are not in a hurry to pay an exorbitant amount to Crystal Palace with the player in the final year of his contract.
Newcastle United are believed to be keen on the defender but Guehi prefers a move to Anfield.
A conclusion in the Alexander Isak saga needs to arrive one way or another to allow Liverpool to address the gaps in defense before the new Premier League season begins.
